Boda Tyohar/Magho ko Tyohar Location: Himachal Pradesh's Trans-Giri region The Hatti tribes of the Trans-Giri region in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh. It's a month-long festival that begins on Posh Dwadashi and concludes at the end of the 'Magha' month (usually January-February). Gaan-Ngai festival Location: Northeast Indian states of Manipur, Assam, and Nagaland. Meaning: "Gaan-Ngai" means "festival of the winter season" (Gaan = winter, Ngai = festival). It's also known as Chakaan Gaan-Ngai. Timing: It usually falls in the Manipuri lunar month of Wakching (which corresponds to December or January in the Gregorian calendar). The 2025 celebration in Manipur began on January 12th. Duration: The festival typically lasts for five to seven days. It is a post-harvest festival, a time to thank the supreme God Tingkao Ragwang for a good harvest and pray for prosperity in the new year. It marks the end of the old year and the beginning of a new one. It's a "festival of light," symbolising the victory of light over evil. It's unique in that it's a festival of both the living and the dead, with rituals to bid farewell to those who passed away in the previous year and decorate their graves. Kagyed Chaam Dance Festival Location: Sikkim, India. It is performed by Buddhist monks and lamas. It takes place annually on the 28th and 29th day of the tenth month of the Tibetan Calendar, which usually falls in early December in the Gregorian calendar.
